What it is

Construction machinery sourcing as a project, not a transaction

Construction machinery sourcing covers earth-moving, lifting, paving and concrete plant equipment for infrastructure, building, mining and energy projects. The buyers in this category are usually contractors, fleet owners, project EPCs and equipment dealers placing orders for individual high-value units or for full fleets that need to land on a project site at a specific date.

Sourcing Captain runs construction machinery procurement as a project. Each order has a specification (capacity, attachments, engine, hydraulics, cab, climate package), an OEM selection (Tier-1 Chinese brands like Sany, Zoomlion, XCMG, LiuGong, SDLG and others), a factory acceptance test, an export documentation pack and a delivery plan to the destination port. The unit you receive is the unit you signed off on — same serial number, same configuration, same paperwork.

For destinations with specific homologation needs — CE in Europe, EPA Tier 4 emissions in North America, or local agency type approval — we route the order to the OEM line that holds the relevant certification, and we capture the certificate as part of the export pack.

How we work

Our construction machinery sourcing process

Configuration lock

Capacity, engine, attachments, cab, climate package, emissions tier and destination certification written into a single configuration sheet.

OEM shortlist

Two or three Tier-1 OEM lines with the right model, lead time and homologation footprint.

Quote & contract

Locked-price contract with delivery schedule, milestone payments and a witnessed FAT clause.

Build oversight

Periodic factory visits during build for high-value units or fleet orders.

Factory acceptance test

Witnessed FAT against the configuration sheet — function, hydraulics, emissions, paint, decals.

Logistics & documents

Vessel booking, RoRo or container loading, export documentation and tracking to destination port.

Deliverables

Why it matters

Why a sourcing partner pays for itself on construction fleet orders

Construction machinery is high cost-per-unit and high stakes for a project schedule. The classic sourcing failures are well known: an OEM that ships a unit with a different attachment from the one ordered, an emissions configuration that fails customs at destination, a missing CE plate that delays site commissioning, or a fleet delivery that arrives a month late and stops the project clock. Each is preventable with on-site oversight.

A sourcing partner who witnesses the FAT, signs off on the configuration, and books the vessel turns those preventable failures into a routine delivery. For global buyers placing fleet orders into China, the saved delay alone usually justifies the engagement on the first project.

FAQ

Construction machinery FAQs

Which OEMs do you work with?

We routinely place orders with Sany, Zoomlion, XCMG, LiuGong, SDLG, LGMG, Lonking, Shantui, Foton Lovol and Yutong, plus several Tier-2 OEMs where the buyer has a specific spec or budget profile. We are explicit about the OEM in the contract — no anonymous "Chinese brand" sourcing.

Do you supply CE-marked machinery for Europe?

Yes, where the OEM line is already CE-certified. We capture the CE declaration of conformity, the technical file reference and the CE plate as part of the export pack. We will tell you up front if a chosen model is not CE-feasible.

Can you handle EPA Tier 4 final emissions for the US?

Yes, for OEM lines that build EPA-compliant configurations. The emissions documentation is part of the export pack and we coordinate with the buyer's customs broker before shipment.

Will you witness the factory acceptance test?

Yes — witnessed FAT is part of every contract. We send a QC engineer to the OEM facility, run through the configuration sheet point by point, and sign off only when every line item is verified.

How is the unit shipped?

Wheeled units typically ship RoRo where service is available; container loading for tracked units and cranes that disassemble. We book vessel positions under our own freight contracts and provide tracking until destination port arrival.
