Carbon fiber, aramid and prepregs — engineered to spec
Carbon fiber tows and fabrics, aramid, prepregs, honeycomb cores and sandwich panels — sourced from Chinese composite suppliers with full FAW, resin content and mechanical data per roll or panel.
Start your sourcing projectAdvanced composites — a structural materials category
Advanced composites are structural materials made by combining two or more constituents — typically a high-strength fiber and a polymer matrix — to deliver mechanical performance that neither constituent has on its own. The category covers carbon fiber and aramid in tow, woven and unidirectional formats; prepregs (fiber pre-impregnated with B-staged resin); honeycomb cores in aramid and aluminum; and sandwich panel skins.
The category sits at the intersection of structural engineering and chemistry. Modulus, tensile strength, fiber areal weight, resin content, void fraction, glass-transition temperature — those are the variables that decide whether a part will survive certification. They are also the variables that an inattentive supplier can quietly drift on between qualification and serial production.
Sourcing Captain works with Chinese composite suppliers that have already qualified into European and US aerospace, marine and high-end industrial supply chains. We never source advanced composites by trade name alone — every order ties back to a fiber datasheet, a resin system datasheet, and per-lot mechanical data.
Composites sourcing workflow
Application brief
Part loading, environment, certification target and process route — translated into a fiber and resin spec.
Supplier shortlist
Pre-audited Chinese fiber producers and prepreggers with the right resin systems and downstream references.
Qualification roll
A small qualification roll for FAW, resin content, gel time, Tg and mechanical testing.
Production PO
Locked-price PO with per-roll lab data and an inspection clause.
In-process audits
On-site audits during prepregging for safety-critical lots.
PSI & cold ship
PSI of dimensions, edge condition and packaging — cold-chain shipping for prepreg.
Lot release pack
Fiber datasheet
Original fiber producer datasheet with the relevant grade and lot reference.
Per-roll FAW & resin
Fiber areal weight and resin content per roll with the test method referenced.
Mechanical data
Tensile, modulus and (where relevant) ILSS values on a representative coupon.
Cure schedule
Recommended cure schedule from the prepregger, signed and dated.
Cold-chain log
For prepreg — cold-chain temperature record from production through delivery.
Sourcing dossier
Audit, supplier, batch and lab data bundled into a single PDF.
Composites are unforgiving when sourcing goes wrong
The cost of a bad composite lot is not the cost of the lot — it is the cost of the part. A prepreg with the wrong resin content will lay up beautifully and de-laminate after the first thermal cycle. A carbon fiber tow that drifts 5% on tensile strength will pass casual QC and fail certification on a static test. A sandwich panel whose core-to-skin bond was made with marginal adhesive looks identical from outside.
For global buyers running composite parts into regulated industries, that risk is what makes a sourcing partner worth working with. We catch the drift before the parts are made — at the prepreg sample, at the in-process audit, at the PSI — and the certification path stays clean.
Composites FAQs
Which fiber grades do you supply?
Standard modulus, intermediate modulus and high modulus carbon fiber from Chinese producers that already export into European and US composite supply chains. We also supply T300, T700 and T800 equivalent grades, plus aramid (para-aramid and meta-aramid) and glass fiber (E, S, R-glass) where the application calls for it.
Can you supply prepreg?
Yes — epoxy, BMI, cyanate ester and phenolic prepregs in unidirectional and woven formats. Cold-chain shipment is part of the contract for any thermosetting prepreg.
Do you supply honeycomb cores?
Yes — aramid honeycomb (Nomex equivalent) and aluminum honeycomb in standard and custom cell sizes, supplied as sheets or pre-machined blanks.
Can you handle aerospace-qualified grades?
We work with Chinese suppliers that already hold qualifications with named European and US aerospace primes. The qualification path is part of the supplier audit and the relevant qualification documents are part of the dossier.
How is prepreg shipped to keep the cold chain?
Sealed in moisture-barrier bags inside reefer containers at -18°C, with temperature loggers. The cold-chain log ships with the bill of lading and is part of the lot release pack.
